How to Ship Whatnot Giveaways in an Envelope for Under $1

If you’re a new Whatnot seller, you may have noticed something frustrating.

You run a sticker giveaway…
You ship it in a regular envelope…
And somehow you’re being charged $4+ for shipping.

That adds up fast.

The good news? There is a way to ship lightweight envelope giveaways (like stickers, recipe cards, ephemera, etc.) for under $1.

But there are a few very important steps you have to set up correctly.

If you miss even one of them, you will be charged full Ground Advantage pricing.

Here’s exactly how to do it.

PART ONE: Turn On First-Class Mail Letter (This Is the Most Important Step)

This must be done from your mobile device.

1. Open your Seller Hub.

2. Click the three lines at the top of your screen (this opens your Seller Tools).

3. Scroll down and click Shipping Settings.

4. Click Domestic Shipments.

5. Find the option labeled:

   “Eligible Shipments under 3 oz – USPS First-Class Mail Letter”

6. Toggle this setting to ON.
   The toggle will turn green when activated.

This step alone allows eligible envelope shipments to ship for about $0.74 instead of $4+.

But you are not done yet.

At the bottom of the page:

7. Click “Also apply to scheduled shows.”
   It will show as a black checked box once selected.

8. Click Save.

That’s step one. And it is absolutely required.

If this setting is not toggled on, your envelope giveaways will default to higher shipping rates.

PART TWO: Set Up the Giveaway Correctly

Now we move to the actual giveaway listing.

1. Open one of your scheduled shows.

2. Click on your Shop.

3. Click the Giveaway tab at the top.

4. Click the yellow + button to add a new giveaway.

I personally always select Temporary Listing for giveaways.
Temporary listings do not affect your quality listing status for Premier Shop.

Next:

5. Select Temporary Listing.

6. For the category, select STICKERS.

This is the second most important step.

If you do not select the correct category, the shipping will not calculate correctly.

7. Add your giveaway title.
   (I usually just write “Sticker Givvy,” but you can name it anything.)

8. Enter the quantity.
   I usually add 10 at once so I don’t have to stop mid-show if I get raided or want to run more.

The Final (Very Important) Step: Weight Selection

This is where many sellers accidentally lose money.

In the shipping section of the giveaway listing:

You must select 0–1 oz.

That is the only weight tier that will keep your envelope giveaway under $1.

If you select anything higher, the system will charge you Ground Advantage pricing,  which means you’ll be paying over $4 to mail a sticker in a regular envelope.

So:

• Lightweight
• Regular envelope
• Not thick or lumpy
• No rigid packaging

= 0–1 oz every time.

After selecting 0–1 oz:

9. Click Save on the shipping.

10. Then click the yellow Add Listing button.

Your giveaway listings are now live.

During your show, you can:

• Go to your Shop
• Click the Giveaway tab
• Select the giveaway
• Click Run Giveaway

When Should You Use This Setting?

You should use these settings when your giveaway:

• Fits inside a standard envelope
• Is under 3 oz
• Is flat (not thick or bulky)
• Does not require tracking

Examples:

• Stickers
• Ephemera
• Recipe cards
• Flat paper goods

If you’re mailing anything thicker or something that requires tracking, this option will not apply.

Why This Matters

Giveaways are meant to build engagement, not drain your profit.

If you’re unknowingly paying $4+ every time you send a sticker in an envelope, that adds up quickly.

Setting this up correctly can save you hundreds of dollars over time.

Small adjustments in your settings can protect your margins in big ways.
